“I am the living bread that came down from Heaven, says the Lord; whoever eats this bread will live forever” (John 6:51).
Recently I recalled the Church's beautiful celebration of the Feast of Corpus Christi, which is Latin for “Body of Christ”. Many call this the Feast of The Body and Blood of Christ.
We, who are invited to spiritually gnaw on His Word — because Christ, the Only-Begotten Son of the Father, is the Word — also are invited to be physically nourished by His Life.
His Body and Blood are the elements of His supreme Sacrifice. Christ gave His Life on the Cross, so that we might have eternal salvation … to dwell in the Glory of the Blessed Trinity.
Through the shedding of His Body and Blood … He has given us His all in the Martyrdom of His sacred Wounds … so we might live forever.
As He interceded for us to the Father, we are called to intercede for others to the Blessed Trinity. We truly are intercessors, beneficiaries of His incredible gifts and graces.
What a Divine and mysterious gift … to ponder from this great feast.
